Meet the Eligibility Requirements

Ensure you meet the Texas requirements which include: be at least 18 years old, a legal resident of Texas, and not convicted of a felony or crime involving moral turpitude.

Complete the Application

Fill out the Texas Notary Public application through the Secretary of State. Include accurate information, your oath of office, and obtain a $10,000 surety bond.

Submit the Application and Fee

Submit your application and a $21 filing fee to the Texas Secretary of State. You may apply online or mail the completed application along with your bond documentation.

Receive Commission Certificate

Once approved, you’ll receive your commission certificate from the Secretary of State. This document authorizes you to officially act as a Texas notary public.
