Meet Maine Notary Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must be at least 18 years old, a resident of Maine or have a place of business in the state, and have no felony convictions or crimes involving fraud or dishonesty.

Complete the Maine Notary Public Application

Obtain the official Maine Notary Public application from the Secretary of State’s office or website. Fill it out with accurate information and ensure all required sections are completed.

Obtain the Required Endorsements

Your application must be signed by at least one registered Maine voter who can confirm your qualifications and good character.

Submit Your Application and Pay the Filing Fee

Send your completed application along with the filing fee to the Maine Secretary of State for processing.

Receive Your Notary Commission Certificate

Once your application is approved, you will receive your Notary Commission Certificate, granting you the authority to perform notarizations in Maine.

Take the Oath of Office
